Super Secret Banana Volume 1
Super Secret Banana is a project I started during my senior year at Otis College of Art and Design. I want it to act as a catalyst for my explorations as I pursue a career path in visual communication. For this project, I aim to immortalize what has inspired me through time: the places I've been, personal experiences, as well as influences and new things I discover from my adventures. I decided to create a publication as one of the the printed forms which coincided as a manifesto project for my Communication Studio IV class under Tanya Rubbak and Ana Llorente. The first volume is about two video game walkthroughs for Harvest Moon: Back to Nature and Final Fantasy: Tactics that I have pored over 12 years ago. These walkthroughs were one of my influences as a designer and revisiting them made me realize how the authors have been disciplined enough to design their webpage with only using the HTML mark-up. I wanted to recreate the design process in a publication as well and redesign the walkthroughs to integrate remnants of my memories while playing the game. I also intend to incorporate my own texts that explain how it has influenced me to choose an artistic career path a decade after playing them. I intend to continue designing a series of publications with the same theme and idea, as I also want to immortalize that particular time for online walkthroughs (early 2000s) where there was very limited amounts of images; and information was mainly in text format, including page design.
